Hi I’m not sure if you are aware but the Baro and Mins adjustment knobs for the PMDG 777 are not working on the CS737 EFIS, all other functions on the panel are working but not the knobs. I’ve tried with the MINS BARO fast slow option on and off in the Bridge Config>PMDG tab.
I could not find the option to switch between 2 different types of MINS/BARO knobs like in previous PMDG aircrafts. It is difficult to simulate the slow/fast type knobs with a rotary encoder hardware.
Yes turn on this switch in CS Bridge will automatically add ‘RotaryMinsBaro=1’ to PMDG options.ini and aircraft .ini files, but this config entry requires PMDG to have such an option in their setup page:
MENU
PMDG SETUP
AIRCRAFT
EQUIPMENT
… PREV PAGE …
MINIMUMS…BARO…KNOBS
SLOW/FAST…ROTARY
MENU
PMDG SETUP
OPTIONS
SIMULATION
… NEXT PAGE …
MINIMUMS…&…BARO…KNOBS
REALISTIC…ROTARY
In PMDG 777 for MSFS, I could not find such an option in the PMDG SETUP page, so maybe they have dropped this feature.
Is it not possible in some way to set the baro and minimums directly as a value? And store it in a variable in the bridge software so you can increment/decrement it when you turn the knobs?
Ah I see- there used to be an option you could select in the FMS for rotary style, or turn and hold (which is what the real world knob does on both 737/777).
Why not open a ticket with PMDG Support?
The folks there are very accommodating for issues such as this.
Also I noticed that the HDG SEL will not activate at first. You need to first select it from the aircraft then the HDG SEL will activate. I only did one flight in the 777 so I will test again and verify.
I opened a ticket with pmdg about the option for rotary for barometer like in the 737, here is their response.
When can we expect this issue to be fixed?
Thanks
I found a workaround using spad next. Let me know if anyone needs more info.
Hello! Can you please fix this and make the baro and minimum buttons work for the MSFS 777?
I Agree. PMDG provided their feedback above. There should be no logical reason why it shouldn’t work.
Can you please include this fix in the MSFS 2024 update?
Is there anything we can do about this? Too bad we can´t use the knobs.
Opened a ticket on the PMDG support site a long time ago and still no update.
Dear CockpitSimulator developers, I really love your software and your hardware! However with this very popular aircraft, the PMDG MSFS 777, we still cannot use two of the most important turning knobs, the Baro and Mins.
The EFIS is a very pricy piece of hardware we specifically bought for having haptic access to these buttons, so it’s very frustrating that they’re still not working - and furthermore that you seem to simply ignore all our requests and questions instead of making a statement or giving us more information, as to what what you’ve tried to do in order to fix it, what your correspondence with PMDG support is and when you anticipate to fix it.
There was one user that reported he got it working with SpadNext, so there seems to be a programmatic solution for making it work, have you corresponded with him? And I’m sure many other users, including me, will help you in any way we can or provide you with additional information if we have any.
I kindly ask, please reconsider looking at this problem again?
Best wishes!
I think with some tinkering with the LVARs the integration should be possible. The creators of Stream Deck Profiles (e.g. this one https://flightsim.to/file/77365/pmdg-777-streamdeck-xl-plus-profile-aao-scripts) found a way to implement Baro and Mins with the Stream Deck Plus which only has rotary encoders. I know they use a complicated way via Axis and Ohs, but in the end they are calling LVars for each rotary click.
But I have to admit that PMDG is not really helpful regarding this issue. They could make this a lot easier on their end if they just implement the setting from the 737 series.
